With performance ensembles in both Seattle & Philadelphia, The Red Rose Jazz Project honors women composers and lyricists through Classic Jazz performance and anecdotal HerStories. As an all women's collaborative, the project takes its name in honor of American Artist Violet Oakley and her "Red Rose Girls" who chose to live and work together in solidarity - focused on their art. We don’t live together, but do love working together and love playing great music written by women!

Celebrated songwriters include Dorothy Fields, Billie Holiday, Joni Mitchell, Marilyn Bergman, Abbey Lincoln, Liz Wright, Sandy Denny, Siedah Garrett, Nora Beys, Alice Coltrane, Carla Bley, Marylou Williams, Peggy Lee, Marian McPartland, Flora Purim, Anita Baker and many more. Drawing from more than 100 years of Jazz standards, popular music, and their own original compositions. Featuring exceptional Jazz musicians our “Celebrate Women!” shows are a great choice for festivals, special concert performances, summer stages, school presentations, and private events.
